The  Bibliography by A.G. Potter is without question an important tool for the bibliographer, the collector or the scholar when it comes to ‘rubáiyát’ and related matters. And for a long time it has been the only one in terms of scope and coverage as it lists more than 580 editions in English and foreign languages, up till the year 1929. These are dealt with in the main section of the book, Part I and II. Works pertaining to the ‘rubáiyát’ such as books and articles, verses, parodies and manuscripts are treated in Part III and IV. Appended is an Index to Translators and Editions and as the Index-title suggests, it only indexes Part I and II.

Potter’s Index however is very basic. It does not reflect editors or contributors (of introductions, forewords, epilogues and the like) and the entries don’t tell whether it is a translator, publisher or artist.

This page intends to remedy most of these shortcomings.

There are separate indices on Translators, Artists, Editors, Contributors, Publishers and Art forms. Publishers of reprints, mentioned by Potter in the collations, are listed and indexed as well.

Authors of prefaces, forewords, epilogues, introductions etc. are treated as ‘Contributors’. Not included are authors of dedications, (laudatory) poems etc. Decorators, illuminators, illustrators are all listed under ‘Artists’ in the filter drop-down menus.

Editions indicated as Version 5 in the Version column are selections and miscellaneous.
